Journey back in time to a Victorian era, that Theatre Workshop captures so magnificently this Christmas.
Theatre Workshop brings the wonder of Hans Christian Andersen to life this Christmas in celebration of his bicentenary this year. Travel back in time to the 19th Century as the master storyteller weaves his magic behind the scenes of the magnificent Royal Opera House in Copenhagen.
A Christmas Tale is a miraculous alchemy of four of Andersen’s best-loved tales, The Ugly Duckling, The Emperor’s New Clothes, The Nightingale and The Little Match Girl. This sparkling Theatre Workshop production is guaranteed to captivate and enthral audiences from three to ninety-three.
Take a romantic look behind the curtains of a Victorian theatre and discover the inspiration for these children’s classics as this mesmerising play-within-a-play unfolds. See how Andersen’s unrequited love for the beautiful opera singer Jenny Lind shaped these mythic tales that have enchanted children and adults alike for the past two hundred years.
