Babylon Burning
PRESS RELEASE – For Immediate release to News Editors
Theatre Workshop presents another sensational production!
Babylon Burning
[Another Lovely War]
Opens 8 – 17 June 2006
Using the original Theatre Workshop’s classic ‘Oh What A Lovely War’ of 2002, this
years Community Play adopts a similar format, as it tries to make sense of the current
war in Iraq.
With a cast of almost 100 participants, it combines popular song, dance and music, documentary photography and film, an ensemble of musicians, heightened theatricality and political satire, together with real life experiences of combatants and civilians.
Babylon Burning promises to take us on a symbiotic theatrical journey of the current war in Iraq, where life is a currency competing with the thirst for oil.
A powerful, compelling and compassionate production that will evoke an emotive response to the conflict in Iraq today.
Witness and experience Babylon Burning and ask yourself ‘are you willing to tolerate this war and the horrors on humanity, future generations will have to live with?’
