THEATRE WORKSHOP EDINBURGH UNVEILS POWERFUL NEW PLAY ABOUT PALESTINIAN TORTURE VICTIM

One Hour Before Sunrise: a poet’s harrowing but ultimately redemptive first hand account of the survival of the human spirit in the face of extreme suffering

Theatre Workshop Edinburgh’s One Hour Before Sunrise will shock you with its uncompromising examination of the torture of a Palestinian poet in a Middle Eastern jail and its sickening aftermath. One Hour Before Sunrise will terrify you with its savagely realistic portrayal of the inhumanity of a faceless state and the casual brutality of its lackeys. One Hour Before Sunrise will fire you with righteous indignation at the gross injustices heaped on an entire people daily. One Hour Before Sunrise will move you with the sensual beauty of its passionately poetic script. And ultimately, One Hour Before Sunrise will fill you with admiration for the indomitable, unbending strength of one man who refuses to sacrifice his principles despite being the victim of systematic torture and mental abuse.

This inspiring new piece of writing from Palestinian poet and writer Ghazi Hussein plots the journey of a young poet named Moneer and his experiences in prison. Here he meets two other characters; one a drug dealer, the other a wiseman. Together the three undertake a profound voyage to the heart of the human condition. Not all survive.

This is a dazzling piece of new writing from one of Scotland’s hottest emerging writers, with an exceptional cast directed by proven theatrical talent. Book your seat now.

Directed by Robert Rae                                Written by Ghazi Hussein

Devised and developed by Robert Rae and Nabil Shaban

Starring Nabil Shaban, Andrew Dallmeyer, Jim McSharry, Okan Yahsi and Omar Mostafa.
