Michael Pedersen is the newly appointed Marketing and Development Manager at Theatre Workshop Scotland. He has had a varied career of media marketing, curating arts events, literary and journalistic writing and is both a successful poet and a qualified lawyer.
Michael, having grown up in Edinburgh, in between Leith and Portobello, attended University in Durham and Nottingham before qualifying as a solicitor in London (with CMS Cameron McKenna LLP and The Wellcome Trust). For a year following this he was self-exiled in Cambodia - teaching English and Creative Writing, learning Khmer and assembling script for films and plays.
He has released two successful poetry chapbooks – collecting numerous award nominations and recommendations – and has a full-length illustrated collection due for release this year. He is widely published in magazines, journals, e-zines and anthologies and has galvanised an electric reputation on the live circuit - collaborating with musicians, filmmakers and artists.
Michael script edits and performs marketing services for forthcoming play/motion picture Dream Tower Inn. Allied to this, his first short play, the Last Supper, is being produced in association with National Theatre of Scotland in Summer 2011.
Michael co-founded and co-captains (with Rebel Inc Founder Kevin Williamson) Neu! Reekie! collaborative arts night. Neu! Reekie! has fast become one of Scotland's most formidable arts events: showcasing an avant-garde ensemble of poetry, music, animation, film and performance, in a cabaret-esque fashion.
